It’s been a while since my last blog post on how to style throw pillows in your home. (You can read the previous post here.) While I still stick to some of the rules that I laid out in that blog post, I have a few other tips and new practices that I follow for styling throw pillows.
Let’s start with my sofa pillows. Here is the easy-to-follow formula that I used before for styling my sofa:

This is a great formula to follow for those of you that crave symmetry in your lives. If you are looking for something a little different, let me share with you my current sofa styling.

As you can see, none of these pillows are the same, but believe it or not, I actually had a formula that I followed to achieve this look.
This is a very easy formula to follow, and you’d be surprised at how many variations you can come up with. A few things to keep in mind when shopping:
- Keep colors in the same family. I stuck with neutral creams and brown tones. Also, keep in mind that you want to pull colors from your own sofa and area rug so that they all compliment each other.
- Consider shopping for pillow covers instead of whole pillows. Once you have a few inserts, you can easily change out your pillow covers without having to purchase extra pillows.
- Shop around! I shop at several places for my home decor and pillows: Target, HomeGoods, Etsy, TJ Maxx, etc. (Etsy can be more expensive, but I have found that the quality is worth it.)
